One of the founding members of funk/ska/punk fusionists Fishbone, trumpeter/vocalist Walter Adam Kibby, II AKA Dirty Walt holds a place in musical history that is without question. For more than twenty-five years, Dirty Walt co-lead Fishbone's assault on every conceivable musical genre across the globe and over a dozen albums. But that was only the proverbial beginning.
Earlier this decade, Dirty Walt put together a solo project featuring fellow Fishbone soldiers Norwood Fisher on bass and Spacey T on guitar. Under the name The Columbus Sanatation, the group released To Put It Bluntly. Described by Rolling Stone as "funk jams" with a political/pro-marijuana message that made "Cypress Hill seem subtle in comparison" To Put It Bluntly garnered critical acclaim and established Dirty Walt as a true solo artist outside of Fishbone.
Fast-forward to the present, Dirty Walt is now a partner in the LA based start-up indie label The International Brotherhood of Consequential Truth that has released not only The Columbus Sanatation's sophomore release Still Smokin', but also Dirty Walt's hardcore-funk outfit Year of the Dragon's Blunt Force Karma.
A continuation of the themes, messages, and raw uncut funk displayed on To Put It Bluntly, the ten tracks on Still Smokin' are a direct reflection of Dirty Walt's eclectic musical taste and abilities and a great introduction to the second phase of his career.
